    ~Deletion Request~

I do not appreciate even the thought that is now becomes site property despite the licensing, even more for personal reasons I won’t name here.

So I’m just going to type this here, for all to see.

How does it work? how do people find their fiction kin? do you think it involves your past life in a way that the character reminds you of something you once experienced or had a similar life or even features?

This is a complicated series of questions, but I'll try my best to tackle them (as someone who's main identity is a fictional character).

    How does it work?

This question has been asked over and over again and it boils down to a broader question: how does being Otherkin work at all? Fictionkin is just a kind of Otherkin with the added restriction of a fictional canon. Some believe their identity is psychological. For example: taking on the identity subconsciously to cope with trauma. While others believe in a spiritual explanation that is simply comprised of the belief in a soul and the multiple universe theory. The theory goes that there are an infinite amount of universes with an infinite amount of possible realities; so through reincarnation across any of these realities/universes, one can argue that they had a past life as Pikachu. This is also where you have people explaining their "canon," or how they remember the source material. For example, someone with a past life as Ash's Pikachu could remember Ash having blonde hair instead of black, and because there are infinite universes with infinite possibilities, there is at least one universe where Ash is blonde instead of black-haired.

How do people find their fictotype

How does any Otherkin find their kintype? You have shifts, memories, or a connected feeling to a character, then you explore those connections, and over time determine if you are kin as this character or not. Just like how you would do research into a species of animal you feel a kin connection to, you would do research into the story of the character and of world inlarge. Does what the character did in this one scene feel familiar like you did it yourself? Did you find yourself feeling deja vu when this character did this or that?

Do you think it involves your past life in a way that the character reminds you of something you once experienced?

This is entirely possible too. A general rule when questioning being fictionkin is to first question what the character was based on. If you are questioning Pikachu, look up the animal or inspiration behind the character. You may actually be kin as a rat instead of Pikachu. This is why it is so important to learn about the character you are questioning to make sure it all fits up. Another example I can think of is from the show Voltron. The show features several species of alien and the entirety of it takes place in space in some form or another. So for someone who is alienkin, they may be feeling shifts that seem similar to one of the species in Voltron and then run with it, not diving deeper to see if it fits more than just on the surface level.

I hope this answers your questions!
