Minatsuki, the server which hosts Kinmunity and Howlr, as well as other web properties, has recently sustained a targeted attack from a client using multiple IP addresses from internet service provider Wave Broadband (Astound Broadband). We have contacted Wave Broadband's abuse department with the relevant logs and are awaiting an investigation and response. Kinmunity takes any and all unauthorized access attempts seriously, and we will continue to monitor the scope of these unauthorized attacks. As a result of this incident, we are taking temporary measures in order to protect our server, its web properties, and our users. The following implementations are effective immediately:
* measures marked with an asterisk are intended to be temporary
- Minatsuki will DENY any connection attempts from IP addresses involved in the attack.
- *FangAI will treat subscribers of Wave Broadband from the following locations as high-risk users; requiring additional verification before granting access to secure resources.
- Kirkland, WA
- Seattle, WA
- Bellevue, WA
- Bothell, WA
- Mountlake Terrace, WA
- Shoreline, WA.
- Users whose browsers which supply ANY information to Kinmunity which does not match their characteristics will receive a two-hour site-level IP address block and account ban.
- *Attempts to access any web property hosted by Minatsuki, including Kinmunity, using a non-standard browser will result in a 24-hour server-level IP address block.
- *Mismatches between user-manipulatable-information and detected characteristics (i.e - falsified user agent, browser supplying other invalid information) will result in a 7-day server-level IP block.
