Romantic attraction?

Question

Guest Curious

I hope my question isn't perceived as rude...

Do (some) otherkin feel romantically attracted towards the animal species they identify themselves with?

Ofcourse there is a difference between feeling and acting and I'm not trying to portray anyone as a pervert.

I'm just wondering because I can imagine that it must be hard to have a relationship with a human that feels human.

Personally I never experienced romantic attraction to my theriotypes specificly other than a sense of friendship/family. Further than that I don't like giving more information about this topic. It's a bit too sensitive in the community to discuss publicly in my opinion, and much of a too high risk for me personally, words get twisted around too easily.

However I do wanna add a few notes on Others here If I may

Zoophilia/Zoosexuality is the sexual and/or romantic attraction towards an animal. It has nothing to do with the otherkin community, although, unfortunately, some otherkin identify as zoosexual. My stance on the matter is and always has been that to act upon such feelings constitutes animal abuse and sexual assault in all cases; animals cannot consent. I am not attracted to actual wolves in this way, but I do find it easier to connect with other wolf therians in a romantic or friendship context. Hope this helps!

I disagree with your first sentence.

General definition of Zoophilia/zoosexuality: an erotic fixation on animals that may result in sexual excitement through real or imagined contact.

General definition of Beastiality: Sexual relations between a person and an animal.

I note especially: Beastiality is a synonym for zoophilia, but a distinction is sometimes made between bestiality, a sexual act with animals, and zoophilia, sexual arousal from contacts with animals

By this: There is a huge difference between Zoophilia and Beastiality and I think you are not aware of this 😛 (and 'romantic attraction' is not officially seen as beastiality/zoophilia!) (if you are aware: I don't think it's correct to thread them as equally bad. A person experiencing zoophilia has no choice, one experiencing beastiality does have)

zoophilia (which is the same as zoosexuality) is where one is sexually attracted. This does Not include romantic attraction btw. Like any attraction, this is out of human control. It's like telling a gay person 'you can't feel sexually attracted to other males', it's something that simply happens and the person might hate and dislike this but cannot change it other than trying to manipulate themselves to change. Which rarely succeeds with success.

Beastiality is any sexual action with an animal. So not just sexual attraction. This is indeed a choice. But I wish not to share opinion due sensitivity of the topic.

And if a Zoophile only consumes pornographic material which is animal/animal or -drawn- human/animal, I'm completely okay with it as well.

After all, I think actual Zoophiles or even Zoosexuals are pretty rare in the community. Yes, the percentage of those inside the Otherkin community and even the furry community may be higher than in the regular population. But that's normal, it's the internet after all.

I don't see drawn human/animal things as anything related to Zoophiles/Beastiality. It's just art and usually antropormorphic. Officially seen it's not directly seen as zoophilia/beastiality in any way.

True, very rare in the community in my experience. Sexual attraction is way higher than sexual 'action' however. I believe the percentages are lower than in the furry community and normal human-community eitherway.

Thanks for hearing me out!

WOOF!

Some might, though it may not be because of they're identity as an otherkin, and even still most know better than to act on such desires.

As a fictionkin, I never experienced attraction except towards my lover from my canon, if that's a good example.

In terms of other relationships, even friend wise, they can be difficult. But at the end of the day we're all souls. It's important to remember that when it gets difficult

come with me catch a heffalump, sit with me on a muddy clump, we'll sing a song of days gone by

run along now dont be glum, get yee gone now have some fun

dont be long for the end is nigh

Well, speaking for myself, I feel love in the sense of friendship towards my birds. Especially with one of my cockatiels I feel a very deep bond and before he got his partner he was actually in love with me, which was extremely cute. But I never felt like being in love with my birds, they're my children after all.

But I see no issue if any Otherkin feels romantic attraction towards their kintype, even if it is an animal. After all, love is a very deep friendship and doesn't hurt anybody.

And if a Zoophile only consumes pornographic material which is animal/animal or -drawn- human/animal, I'm completely okay with it as well.

I haven't seen anyone else mention this so I thought I'd bring it up.

There is the term medusan, which in the coiner's words is "referring to alterhuman/nonhuman people who are sexually and/or romantically attracted to other alterhuman people and/or nonhumans. this can mean monsters, aliens, or mythical creatures - any intelligent nonhuman creature." The post where it was introduced is here. It's not as widely used and I've only seen it maybe a couple times in the wild, but attraction to only/mostly your own species/not humans isn't unheard of.

As an angelkin, I feel more a brotherhood with angels more than anything else.

I'm asexual and aromantic or greyromantic, and none of my types actually exist here.

... I suppose there is a higher chance I'd wind up romantically attracted to another kin if we shared a type...? I don't know any other kin IRL, let alone anyone with my types, so I don't know.

There are a few dotted about, the vast majority are probably nothing to be concerned about. You can think an animal is handsome or something and go about your life as usual. Fantasies of all kinds are normal and not unhealthy it's your outward behaviour that matters. As for finding other alterhumans more attractive well then that's just being into humans so god speed with your romantic efforts lol.

I suppose a very small percentage would be romantically attracted, but I’d say a majority feel a deep connection to their kintype. Maybe people mistake this deep connection for romantic attraction. As for having a relationship with a human, it is difficult and foreign for me - I’m asexual. It’s possible that other therians experience this too.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, though it hasn't been a major problem that I've observed.

As for my hawk side, no, not at all, don't even want to think about how that would work. If I were living a hawk life and in a hawk body I might feel differently, but that's not currently the case.

As for the deity side, yes, actually. Godspouses are a controversial subject, for completely different reasons than what pertains to animals, but they do exist.

Red Tailed Hawk Therian / Polymorph / Spirit Being / Anthro Hawk / Deitykin

I'm a Heru. No, not that one.
