List your favorite albums, for fun and profit (okay, maybe not profit)!

As some of you may know, I'm a complete music nerd/snob/aficionado, and I'm always curious to hear about others' tastes. So, in this thread, I'd like to ask you all: What are some of your favorite albums? What long-form collections of music bring you cathartic or intellectual pleasure? No minimum/maximum number, no ranking required, and if you feel like doing EPs, singles, or what have you instead, feel free! Anyway, here's my list (limiting myself to ones I discovered this year):

The Brave Little Abacus- Just Got Back From the Discomfort, We're Alright

Car Seat Headrest- Twin Fantasy or Monomania

Daniel Johnston- Hi, How Are You

Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum- Divorce Lawyers I Shaved My Head

mewithoutYou: Brother, Sister or Ten Stories

Nouns- Still

Various Artists- PC Music Volume 1

Ricky Eat Acid- Three Love Songs

Sufjan Stevens- Carrie and Lowell

Teen Suicide- I Will Be My Own Hell Because There Is A Devil Inside My Body

Miracle Musical by Hawaii Part II

Created by a musician from Tally Hall, this album has to be one of my favorite insanities.

Home by the Head

Loud Christian hard rock. What could go wrong?

Innocence and Instinct by RED

Simply put, I love Confessions.

Release the Panic by RED

Different from their other albums, yet still great. I really enjoy Perfect Life and Hold Me Now.

Anarchy, My Dear by Say Anything

This album grew on me.

Ocean Eyes by Owl City

While I do like his newer albums, I really like the first one best.

Letters to the President by Hawk Nelson

This album and up to Made, are my favorite punk rock albums. In Made, they lost their main singer and became a regular mundane Christian band.

Rise by Skillet

It grew on me like a fungus.

Billy Talent II by Billy Talent

Billy Talent got talent.

How To Train Your Dragon by John Powell

One of the reasons why I love the movie was the soundtrack.

In the End There's Only Love by Ewert and the Two Dragons

Gotta love this Estonian indie band!

Anything by Rush! But if I had to pick my favorite album from them would be Roll The Bones. I also enjoy Disturbed and Five Finger Death Punch. But that's just one end of the spectrum I love music by Willam like Ride For AIDS and I love Taylor swift. I try to keep my taste broad. I try not to say I hate an artist until ive heard their music first. And I'm loving all this new music listed it's great! XD

I've been listening to a lot of my vinyl collection lately, and it's really nice to revisit some of the favorites that I found through my parents.

Harry Nilsson- The Point and Nilsson Schmilsson

The Hollies

The Moody Blues- In Search of the Lost Chord

King Crimson- In The Court of the Crimson King

Carole King- Tapestry

The Beatles- Abbey Road

Alan Parson's Project- Tales of Mystery and Imagination

I have a lot of their other old albums and I haven't gotten to listen to them yet. Those are just the ones that stick out to me right now.

Favorite albums of this year have to be

Carrie & Lowell - Sufjan Stevens (Seeing him live in November)

Born Under Saturn - Django Django

I know it's meager but I've been out of it in terms of music this year and I wanted to stay limited to work that was published in 2015 HAH.

Oh and with Odin on our side and twilight of the thunder God by amon amarth

Iron Maiden - Brave new world.

Nightwish - Oceanborn

Sabaton - Art of war

Gustav Holst - The planets suite

Those are the ones i find myself listening to quite allot anyway, there are individual songs that I prefer from other albums, often more than any of the songs in these albums, but all the music within these ones are consistantly good. The last one while not strictly an album is close enough I feel to include here and has some incredible orchestral pieces to it, inspired half the sci-fi theme music out there.

All of Mindless Self Indulgence's albums

All of IAMX's albums

All of My Chemical Romance's albums

All of AFI's albums

"Ask The Dust" by Lorn

I have too many others to list...those are all off the top of my head.

I must add "The Broken Bride" by Ludo. The whole album tells a story about a man who builds a time machine to save his dead wife.

I am not one for albums, mostly I just listen to the same songs; with every once and while, stumbling across songs I have never heard of-and come to enjoy.

Some bands I enjoy are ~

She! (Favorite song being Atomic.)

Limp Bisket

Breaking Benjamin

A Perfect Circle

Get Scared

Carlprit & Cascada

Gorillaz

Simon Curtis

Prince

Imagine Dragons

Meg & Dia

Starset

Three Days Grace

Gregorian

Hollywood Undead

Coheed & Cambria

Blessthefall

12 Stones

Pink Floyd

Additionally, this song gets its own little place; simply because I love it so much.

It is quite the calming song, besides it being about insanity. >.<
