The Political Compass Test.

Recommended Posts

Apparently I'm pretty close to Gandhi on my political and economic beliefs. Huh.

I guess this means I'm an anarchist-socialist? Sounds kind of accurate. Not sure what to make of this otherwise though.

Added: I took the quiz @Kerguelen linked to too, and got this: https://8values.github.io/results.html?e=78.8&d=76.9&g=71.7&s=82.4

"Libertarian Socialism." Okay then.

Oh, I haven't seen this test before! Took it real quick, although I agree with what @Gryff had to say about choosing "Neutral/Unsure" because some of the questions were vague and either because of the way they were phrased or their ambiguity, I couldn't reach a definitive decision about them.

"Abstract art that doesn't represent anything shouldn't be considered art at all."

Interesting question, but what does it have to do for certain with politics?

Sometimes surveys like this throw in unrelated questions as a control of sorts, and to make it less clear what the questions are judging.

That might be a reference to socialist realism and similar things. In that particular example, the USSR promoted art that was realistic and represented "proletarian values." Similar ideas are found in other states, but the USSR is a familiar example. Despite my reference to "socialist" realism, this concept can be applied to all ideologies. Agreeing with the statement will probably put you higher on the "authoritarian" scale, though I can't say for certain since I didn't make the test.

Just now, Gryff said:

That too. Although I actually do think this particular question is relevant.

My result from 8values...I found the percentages of my results to be irrelevant and not worth sharing.

  • Economic Axis: Centrist
  • Diplomatic Axis: Balanced
  • Civil Axis: Moderate
  • Societal Axis: Progressive

Edit: This is actually more accurate than my result from the Political Compass test

Interesting, the 8values test must have gone through an update; my Diplomatic Axis previously said Pacifist but just now when I checked the link I posted it now says Internationalist.

Looks like it changed. The axes also say "nation" and "world" too.

Oh, they changed the test! There are more questions. Here are my newest results:

Ah I haven't taken this particular test before, time to do so!

I came out with my closest match Social Liberalism, which matches with my position on the Political Compass too.

Oh, wow! They certainly did! I took it again, and got the exact same thing, with only some minor percentage fluctuation.

Huh, I always thought I was more middle of the road than that. Interesting.

I didn't keep my results but I tried 8values. Apparently I am a "libertarian socialist." Equality, world, liberty, and progress are my main values. Pretty intuitive.

Edit: Oh wow! I'm looking up libertarian socialism and it seems very similar to what I actually do believe - lovely!
