Thomas Thwaites is sick of being human ...

Wow, that''s an interesting story. I love the lengths he's gone to in order to truly experience 'being' a goat. I would certainly love to try something like that myself.

Makes me question whether he may unknowingly have some otherkin/therian in him or if it just appealed to him to try.

Honestly, I want those things he has on his feet. I'd love to run around on those.

But otherwise, it's kind of interesting. I must admit, I wouldn't mind doing it either; being able to experience the outside like an animal and just take a break. It kind of looks like fun!

My family gave me a link to this interesting article about a person who "lived" as a goat for a brief time in the alps.

I was just wondering, can this relate to the therian community? Perhaps this man is a therian? I don't know, reminded me of all of you, just something I wanted to share and hear opinions on.

Hm... It sounds like he was less concerned with what it was like to be a goat as he was with the idea of not being human. He mentioned wanting to do a different animal before settling on goats, so it doesn't sound like there was any real connection he felt to the idea of being a goat or even being a specific animal. It's interesting though. His leg designs might be kind of useful for therians who want to go down on all fours.

My first thought, though, was, who has over $2000 to make goat legs for only a 3-day enterprise??

Ah, I remember seeing things all about this. I don't think it has anything to do with the otherkin community. Literally, all I see him as is a person interested in animal behavior and is curious how it'd be to be a human living as a goat. His designs allow him to see what strength and ability a goat needs to climb those hills. Biologists do crazy things like that.

I was thinking the same thing. I would love to have cool feral legs.

Ehh.. agreed, not really otherkin, but at least he'll be safer (hopefully!) than Timothy Treadwell. I'm guessing that white helmet is there in case a goat desides to headbutt him? Seriously doubt it'll do him any good, though... those things can hit hard.

Looks like it's research....and nothing more.

Yeah, definitely something to do with research, or even theraputic for him.

All I can think while reading this is that I want those damn leg things. And a field far, far from civilisation so I can run about on all fours in peace lol :p

But yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with otherkin.

That is a pretty interesting way to do research, and I can appreciate it. Obviously we can't really tell whether this guy is any sort of kin, but even if he isn't, I wonder how many of us would do something like this if we could.

I'd be up for it.

Not gonna lie i'd spend hundreds to make cool wings or anything that is like being feral that I can wear and just chill with a bunch of pidgeons or parrots or any huge parrot colony or other animals that i relate to, so I can learn more about their behavior. It would be amazing.

I don't think he's therian, or researching or anything like that. He says pretty clearly that he's just taking a holiday from being human, which implies he identifies as a human. So I guess the short answer would be he did it for kicks.

I don't know if I'd do the same, it's really hard to blend in with a family of foxes when your body size and smell are so different. I wouldn't mind giving the prosthetics a go some time, though.

I couldn't do something like this even if I wanted to, but prosthetics and costumes to be more like my kin type? I would definitely be down for that.

Incidentally, when I first saw the name of this thread, I briefly thought "Who are you calling GoatMan?"

I've seen plenty of people wear cool satyr legs. I'd love to do that!

You and me both. But I haven't got the patience to make such a thing myself, and even if I could buy them somewhere, they'd be very expensive. It is an Avenue I've explored before, though.

Well I hope some day you can get some as a gift or commission someone! I think I might be buying myself a tail or some sort of wing-hands thing soon.
