β™‘ πΌπ“ƒπ“‰π“‡π‘œπ’Ήπ“Šπ’Έπ“‰π’Ύπ‘œπ“ƒ β™‘

Hello everyone! (*・ω・)οΎ‰ Yep, I'm finally getting around to doing this! It gives you all a chance

to learn a bit about me, and me to maybe even learn a bit about myself. And it's fun!

I'm pretty sure this was originally made by @Charias ^-^

And without further ado, let's get into it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
β™‘ π’¦π’Ύπ“ƒπ“‰π“Žπ“…π‘’ β™‘
1. What is your kintype/s?
Only one, I'm a domestic cat! A turkish angora, to be precise~
2. What methods did you use to discover your kintype?
It didn't really take methods, I just... knew. I was purring and meowing and wanting pets,
everything a cat does, though no urges to roar or hunt anything large so I definitely wasn't wild.
3. How long did it take you to figure out your kintype?
I new it was a cat before I even fully "awakened" as an otherkin. As far as breed, I learned pretty fast. I knew
I was a breed with long white fur, and started researching breeds until one ended up clicking for me.
4. Have you ever misidentified your kintype? If so, what did you mistake it for, and why do you think this was?
No.
5. How sure are you that you are right about your kintype? Do you ever have doubts?
I've considered other breeds a few times, namely the norwegian forest cat, but I still think
turkish angora fits me better and am confident in that conclusion. As far as considering
being a wild cat or other animal entirely, no, I am very sure that I am some form of domestic cat.
6. Overall, do you like your kintype? Dislike it? Have no opinion either way?
I like my kintype! Though I do find it a bit ironic, as I've grown up around dogs my
entire life and have had very little contact with cats, and overall consider myself
more of a "dog person".
7. List five things you like about your kintype.
I: I think they're cute tbh
II: Cats are adept hunters and sometimes it gives me a sort of
"powerful" feeling during shifts. Not as strong as I'm sure it is for
wild species though...
III: I think being a cat also matches several aspects of my base personality,
such as not being very "peopley" save for with a few people, generally being
fairly quiet, etc.
IV: My friends really like cats, which has helped them be more accepting of
my otherkinity. They find my behaviors quite charming, and I'm not sure if this would be
the case if I were a different kind of animal.
V: It's easy to find cat-related items and surround myself with cute kitty things!
8. List five things you dislike about your kintype.
I: They're super popular. On one hand this has its upsides, but I feel like I'm the sort of person
people would be like "ew why does everyone have 'cool' kintypes lololol" at.
II: And then there's people who strongly feel the opposite. I know they
don't mean it as a personal attack of course, but when I see/hear someone
say that they hate cats I get a bit sad sometimes.
III: Cats can manage in all sorts of different environments. This often leads me
to picture myself in a variety of situations which causes some confusion. I feel at home
both outdoors and indoors. Am I a stray? Did/do I have a human? I'm not too sure.
IV: I know this is a small, petty issue, but... I love onions. Which is really weird...
Onions are extremely toxic to cats. It just makes me feel weird idk
V: Speaking of food, cats can't taste sweetness and I have a massive sweet tooth.
While I would love to be physically transformed, that would be a big
downside for me tbh.
9. If you could, would you change your kintype? If so, what would you rather be?
I don't dislike this kintype, so I don't think I would replace it, but I would probably add another one.
Some sort of larger wild animal, a lion or a snow leapord? A wolf, perhaps? Something stronger
and more powerful.
10. Are you content with your kintype? How long did it take you to accept this part of your identity?
Yes, I'm content with it! I accepted this part of my identity very quickly. Though there are
times it brings me down and I feel a bit isolated and sad because of it, these are
the exceptions as opposed to the norm.
11. To what extent do you see yourself as (non-physically) non-human?
This one is hard to give a solid answer too, as it seems to fluctuate. Maybe 45% or so as a default? But there are
some days where I don't feel in touch with that side at all, and this drops to 0. Then on some rare occasions during strong
mental shifts I seem to lose all humanity and it goes up to 100. Then there are days I only have a few light phantom shifts
and it might be more like 30%. I'm not really sure.
12. What experiences and feelings led you identify as your kintype, rather than with it?
The shifts. If I identified only with something, why would I ever have such strong feelings
as though I am one? Besides, a lot of my more in-depth research came after my awakening as opposed
to before, so I didn't know very much that I could have identified with at all.
β™‘ π’œπ“Œπ’Άπ“€π‘’π“ƒπ’Ύπ“ƒπ‘” β™‘
13. At what age did you awaken? How long ago was this?
A few months before my 17th birthday. This was 8 months ago.
14. Do you believe something specific triggered your awakening?
Sort of? See next question.
15. How long did your awakening last? Was it a sudden realization, or did it take time?
Sort of a combination of both. I had heard of otherkin before, but around the time of my awakening,
it had been a very long time and I had forgotten about it. I had been feeling animalistic feelings
for months before the day I consider my full "awakening", so in that way it was gradual. But then
I was reminded of the otherkin community when I stumbled across a video on youtube about the
topic, and then remembered, and everything clicked. "This is it, this is what I've been feeling. This is what I am."
So it was sort of a long-lasting thing that built up to a sudden realization.
16. What did your awakening involve? How did it happen?
Didn't I answer this last question..?
17. How did you feel during your awakening? What was it like for you emotionally?
During the early days, it didn't make me feel much of anything. I felt mental shifts, and what in hindsight
may have been sensory shifts, but they weren't too strong. I wasn't really crawling on all fours or
anything, but I would often meow or purr or want my head scratched, etc. Then the mood passed and
I would move on with my life as though it never happened. I thought it was just a thing that went on sometimes
and that was it. I didn't put too much thought into it. Then once I realized that this was a thing with
a name and other people that experienced it, I took it much more seriously and started doing more research.
It was liberating and exciting, almost euphoric as I finally figured out what this other side of me was
and began to get in touch with it more.
18. Did you know about otherkin/therians prior to your awakening? If so, do you think this could have affected you or played some part in triggering your awakening?
Very little. As I said, I had heard of otherkin before, but I was very misinformed and had only ever seen them portrayed in a negative light.
And by that time I had forgot most of the (very little) prior knowledge I did have. I think I would have fully awakened
much faster if this had not been the case,
19. Do you believe you have always identified as non-human, even prior to your awakening?
No. As I said, while I had animal-like feelings, I didn't really consider it
an important part of my identity until later.
20. Did you experience shifts and/or feelings of being non-human prior to your awakening?
Yes. I had sensory and light mental shifts, as well as generally feeling as though
I was disconnected from humans and not fully human myself. Though it was quite
some time before I put 2 and 2 together and realized my occasional animal-like
feelings and my feelings of not being entirely human were connected.
β™‘ π“ˆπ’½π’Ύπ’»π“‰π“ˆ β™‘
21. Do you experience mental shifts? (If no, skip to question 22).
Yes!
i. Describe how your mental shifts feel.
I've always found my mental shifts very enjoyable. They usually give me a lighthearted,
playful and happy feeling, or sometimes a sense of calmness if my feline mentality
decides it's time for a "cat-nap". Though I do occasionally feel a sense of power
if I'm more focused on the stealthy hunter aspect of cats.
ii. How often do you mentally shift? How intense/vivid are these shifts?
Not often, these days. I used to shift almost daily and have extremely strong mental shifts.
I barely had human thoughts at all, instead running purely on feline instinct. That doesn't happen
often these days now. Recently I only shift once or twice a week at most, and I would describe
them as moderately vivid.
iii. Do you enjoy mental shifting, or not?
Yes, definately!
iv. What is your favourite part about mentally shifting?
The happy feeling it gives me and generally feeling more closely connected to my kintype.
v. What is your least favourite part about mentally shifting?
I wish my mental shifts were more vivid.
vi. Do you experience involuntary mental shifts? If so, in what situations do these occur?
Very rarely, though I've noticed some... interesting contributors. They seem to happen
much less during times of intense stress and only ever seem to happen when I'm in a positive mindset.
It seems to be linked to weather as well. I rarely shifted at all during the snowy winter, but
on sunny fall/spring days I shift way more often. Sometimes rain causes this as well.
vii. Do you experience voluntary mental shifts? If so, how do you do this?
Yes, I do! I have a specific process I often go through in order to make this happen.
I think I found this somewhere, it may have been a youtube video? I don't remember for sure though.
Anyway, I close my eyes and clear my head, and try to center and focus my thoughts. I then imagine
roots coming out of my body, wrapping around my limbs and going into the ground, deep beneath
the earth until they eventually reach these... orbs, of sorts, filled with liquid. That liquid being liquidized feline
essence/instinct. It then comes up the roots and into my body, flowing through me and building up before bursting forth in the
form of an m-shift.
viii. Describe the first mental shift you remember having.
I'm pretty sure i've covered this in other answers.
22. Do you experience phantom shifts? (If no, skip to question 23.)
i. Describe how your phantom shifts feel.
It depends on my mood. Sometimes they can be a bit distracting, sometimes comforting.
ii. How often do you phantom shift? How intense/vivid are these shifts?
Phantom shifts are an almost daily occurrence.
iii. Do you enjoy phantom shifting, or not?
Yes, I usually enjoy my phantom shifts! Unless I get alot of them at once, then
it gets a bit overwhelming at times.
iv. What is your favourite part about phantom shifting?
They have a fun, warm, tingly feeling. It's kinda nice! And I like trying to wiggle my
phantom body parts around and feeling them move.
v. What is your least favourite part about phantom shifting?
Without a doubt, my whisker shifts. Whiskers are very sensitive and it's
super uncomfortable when anything touches them!
vi. Do you experience involuntary phantom shifts? If so, in what situations do these occur?
Yes, and they tend to come randomly.
vii. Do you experience voluntary phantom shifts? If so, how do you do this?
No, but I've also never really tried this.
viii. Describe the first phantom shift you remember having.
I've had so many, it's hard to remember. I think it was my ears? I'm not sure...
23. Do you experience dream shifts? (If no, skip to question 24).
Yes, though not very often.
i. When you dream shift, do the dreams differ from your typical dreams? In what ways?
While they often aren't as vivid, I can usually remember them for longer then
I can remember my usual dreams.
ii. How often do you dream shift?
Very rarely.
iii. Do you dream shift during lucid or non-lucid dreams, or both?
Lucid, save for only one exception.
iv. Describe the first dream shift you remember having.
I remember that I had an owner and I was in our house, running around
and climbing on things.
24. Have you ever experienced a sensory shift? If so, how did this feel?
I experience these quite a bit! It feels like whatever sense has shifted is sharper and more
clear then it might otherwise be.
25. Have you ever experienced a spiritual or aural shift? If so, how did this feel? How did you know?
26. If you believe in and practice astral projection, do you take the form of your kintype?
27. Do you experience cameo shifts? (If no, skip to question 28).
Yes!
i. How often do you experience cameo shifts?
Very rarely.
ii. Are these cameo shifts in the form of mental, phantom, dream or other shifts?
Usually mental, save for once or twice where I've very briefly phantom-shifted
some sort of feathered wings.
iii. How intense/vivid are your cameo shifts?
Not very vivid and also very brief, save for one snow leopard m-shift which I would
call moderately vivid.
iv. Are there specific creatures or entities which you are more likely to cameo shift as?
The vast majority of my cameo shifts have been in the form of some sort of canine.
v. If your cameo shifts are as a specific creature/entity, what makes you feel it is not a kintype?
They occur very infrequently, are very short and are almost always caused by some sort of stress.
vi. What feelings differentiate your cameo shifts from shifts into your kintype, if any?
My normal shifts are usually a positive experience, while cameo shifts are almost
always uncomfortable and confusing.
vii. Are your cameo shifts voluntary, involuntary or both?
Always involuntary.
viii. Do you enjoy cameo shifting, or not?
Not really, it's just weird and uncomfortable...
β™‘ π΅π‘’π“π’Ύπ‘’π’»π“ˆ β™‘
28. Why do you believe you identify as non-human?
I've always felt very drawn to animals, even moreso then humans, and don't often
fit in very well with human society. Even as a very young child, I always hated dolls but
had hundreds of stuffed animals. I went through a period of time where I would bark and growl
and try to communicate with dogs. (Ironic, considering I now identify as a cat!) I never had
very many human friends, yet always got along well with animals.
29. If you believe you identify as non-human for spiritual reasons; (if not, skip to question 30)
i. What feelings and experiences have led you to believe your identity is spiritual in nature?
ii. Do you believe you had a past life as your kintype, have the soul of your kintype, or something else?
iii. Have you ever experienced flashbacks or memories of existence before your current life?
iv. If yes, how do these memories differ from normal dreams/daydreams?
v. How do you believe you have ended up here, as a human? Do you think it was a choice?
vi. Do you believe you are here for a reason? If so, what do you think that reason is?
vii. Have your experiences as otherkin affected your other religious and spiritual beliefs, or lack of such beliefs? If so, how?
viii. Have you ever seriously considered that your identity may be psychological or neurological in nature? If not, why not? If so, what about it makes you believe it is spiritual instead?
30. If you believe you identify as non-human for psychological or neurological reasons; (if not, skip to question 31)
i. What feelings and experiences have led you to believe your identity is psychological or neurological in nature?
This was largely due to process of elimination, as spiritual otherkinity does not line up with my already existing
religious beliefs.
ii. Do you believe a specific event has led to you developing a non-human identity, or that you were always this way?
I think I was always this way, though I was often made to suppress it during my early childhood so it was pushed to the
furthest reaches of my mind until it resurfaced more recently.
iii. Why do you believe your kintype is what it is?
I think cats fit well with some already existing personality traits of mine, while also
embodying some traits that I admire. (Cuteness, innocence, intelligence, etc)
iv. Where do you believe the knowledge that is required to maintain a non-human identity (such as the feelings of mental and phantom shifts) is sourced from?
... Quite frankly I'm not sure I understand what this question means. Skip!
v. Do you have any fabricated "memories" of being your kintype? If so, why do you think this is?
I do have a few, but because I don't believe in past lives, I would hesitate to call them memories.
I do have a theory regarding this though. I've toyed around in my head with the idea that the origin of my
otherkinity may not be psychological or spiritual in nature, but cosmic. If other universes do in fact
exist, perhaps there is one in which I am fully feline, and I have somehow formed a mental connection
with myself from said universe. If this is not true, then it's likely not a memory or any kind, but just
a situation that I can easily picture myself belonging in.
vi. Have your experiences as otherkin affected your other religious and spiritual beliefs, or lack of such beliefs? If so, how?
Not really. I'm actually a Christian (uncommon in the kin community, I know), which, while many see as imcompatible
with otherkinity, I see no biblical evidence suggesting that this sort of thing is impossible or condemned, so I
don't see much of a problem with it.
β™‘ π’žπ‘œπ“‚π“‚π“Šπ“ƒπ’Ύπ“‰π“Ž β™‘
31. How did you first find the otherkin community? Was it before or after you awakened?
It was long before I first awakened, and I think it was through youtube. This was also where I
would later re-discover it, triggering my awakening.
32. Do you believe being part of the community has had any impact on your identity?
I think so. The community has given me a place to share my experiences while also
providing new perspectives on many aspects of otherkinity which has helped me to
learn more about it.
33. Do you believe you would know as much about yourself as you do now, if it weren't for the community?
No. If it weren't for informational resources made by the community, I would have
no idea what on earth is going on with me!
34. What is your favourite part about the online otherkin community?
I really enjoy seeing people's creative projects, like art and photography!
35. What is your least favourite part about the online otherkin community?
The hate and judgement that we receive from outside the community.
36. Overall, have your experiences in the community been positive or negative?
Definitely positive, I have yet to have anything very bad happen.
37. If you were asked to give advice to newly-awakened otherkin, what would you say?
Don't jump to any conclusions. Do your research before you completely decide on anything. But also,
don't rush things or feel ashamed for being a certain thing. If you're not sure of your kintype,
that's fine, not everyone is at first! And if you're some obscure animal, cool! Don't feel awkward
because you're different, it's cool! And on the contrary, if you have a common kintype, you're not
a poser. You're you, and that's okay.
β™‘ πΈπ’»π’»π‘’π’Έπ“‰π“ˆ π‘œπ“ƒ 𝓁𝒾𝒻𝑒 β™‘
38. How big of an effect do you believe your otherkin identity has on your life?
A moderate change, I suppose. It hasn't really changed any already existing aspects
of my life, it's simply added onto it.
39. Are you ever inconvenienced by your identity as non-human?
Not often, though it occasionally brings my mood down a little. Sometimes I wish I was fully,
physically my kintype, or, alternatively, that I wasn't like this at all and I could just be
normal like everyone else. It also makes me feel weird in my own skin sometimes.
These feelings always end up passing with time though.
40. Do you ever feel "homesick" for the habitat or lifestyle of your kintype? If so, how do you deal with this?
Sometimes. I try to just ignore it and take my mind off of it, or maybe vent to a friend.
41. Do you ever experience species dysphoria? If so, how does this feel, and how do you deal with it?
Same answer as above.
42. Are there any locations that make you feel more or less connected to your kintype? Why?
The outdoors! I have "memories" of being outside and in nature, and all of the sounds and
sights and fresh air often triggers sensory shifts.
43. Are there any activities that make you feel more or less connected to your kintype? Why?
Art and writing sometimes do, if I incorporate my kintype into my work. Also, watching
cat videos, of course!
44. Do you believe your identity as a non-human has affected your interests or career path?
No.
45. Do you believe your non-human identity has affected your personality? Why, or why not?
No. While my kintype does have some similarities to my base personality,
those similarities existed even prior to my awakening.
46. Do you believe your non-human identity has affected your "moral compass" in any way?
No, my morals have remained unchanged.
47. Do you have any unusual behaviours or quirks that you attribute to your kintype?
Ya know how cats do that stretch thing where they sorta bend their back and put
their backside in the air? I do that alot. Also, I like to climb on furniture
that you aren't really supposed too, like tables.
48. Do you have any unusual instinctual reactions or fears that you attribute to your kintype?
Nope!
49. If given a choice, would you rather everybody know about your non-human identity, or nobody?
Nobody, i feel like people would be judgemental.
50. Do you feel it is important for friends/family to know about your non-human identity? Why, or why not?
No. I feel like they wouldn't react very well, and even if they did,
it wouldn't impact my daily life.
51. How do you express your non-human identity externally (if you do at all)?
While I don't wear typical "gear" like fuzzy ears or tails, I do wear
things like hats/headbands/headphones with ears, cat jewelry, etc. I'm wearing
my cat headphones while writing this!
52. How open are you about your non-human identity in general?
Hardly at all, outside of designated communities and a couple of friends.
53. Would you ever consider modifying your body to more resemble your kintype (i.e. tattoos, piercings, etc.)?
I would never modify my body at all, kintype related or not.
54. Overall, do you feel that having a non-human identity has been a positive, negative or neutral experience?
Positive! Considering how much I love animals, knowing I am one has
been a really wonderful thing for me!
55. Have you ever tried to deny, bury or ignore your non-human identity? If so, why?
No.
56. If given the choice to permanently, physically change into the form of your kintype, would you? Why, or why not?
I'm not sure. On one hand I would love not having to deal with human
stresses and responsibilities, but I would miss my human friends. ... And my thumbs.
And chocolate.
Fun stuff
57. What's your favourite thing to do while shifted?
Running around outside and chasing birds (but not hurting them!)
58. What's your favourite thing to eat or drink while shifted?
Fish!
59. Have you ever done something silly while shifted, only realising after the shift has subsided?
I play with yarn sometimes...
60. If you see something scary while mentally shifted, how do/would you react?
*VIOLENTLY HISSES*
61. Ever had any embarrassing moments related to your kintype? C'mon, out with it!
I had a sensory shift while helping my dad outside once and got super distracted staring at a bird.
He was like "what are you staring at...?" Whoops.
62. All otherkin have suddenly gained the ability to physically shift! What's the first thing you do?
Probably just try to adjust. Being so small and walking on all fours
would probably be weird the first time!
63. ...And what's the second thing?
Probably play with my dog, assuming she doesn't growl at me. ^^;
64. What would a normal day be like for you if you could physically shift?
Lots of chasing things, climbing up on high places (and probably falling, i'm not very graceful tbh), and
proably playing with my tail alot. Come on, if you had a physical tail you KNOW you would
play with it constantly!
