Exercise
So. If you're like me, a little on the chunky side, and want to lose some weight, boy do I have the things for you. I am a cross-country runner, and run 3+ miles on a daily basis. It's really good for shifting because I run alone and I can go full feral. Running in the cold is the best because I layer up and feel all floofy and warm. I can never stand the cold very well, but I assume it's because I'm supposed to have thick fur and I don't. Off topic, but ON WITH THE POST.

Running is a great way to get a cardio workout, and a great warmup for a strength and conditioning workout. Long-distance running (over one mile) is better for endurance, while a run of a mile or less is good for speed. The longer you run, the more calories you burn, and it is a great way to get outside more, and tone your calves and thighs. Running in the cold, however, is even better. Your body not only burns calories from running but also from keeping you warm. Don't run in a jacket unless it is really too cold (under 30 degrees F for me) because once you hit the first half-mile or so, you'll need to take it off.

I also read on a random post online when I was debating self-harm (years ago, I'm over it now) that running is a great substitute for that. It releases endorphins like dopamine (exercise produces endorphins, and endorphins make you happy, and happy people just don't kill their husbands.), and if you are untrained, a run can hurt like hell. Sure did for me when I started out. ALWAYS make sure to stretch afterwards, or you run the risk of cramps, muscle tears, and pulled muscles. Not fun.
