(Oh look, a left aligned post instead of a centered one! Yes, I'm changing my format a bit for this one. While I like the look of center-aligned posts, I hear that they can be more difficult to read. Do you guys prefer left or center aligned? Please let me know!)

Hello everyone! (*・ω・)οΎ‰ In life, I think it can be important to remember the small things that bring you joy. This is especially true if you live in a tiny, nothing town in the middle of nowhere like I do. There's not much around here that's overly interesting. It has some history behind it, but as of not there's just not much here to entertain ourselves with. So we often turn to smaller things to spark happiness or comfort in us. I've found myself thinking a lot about sound today, and have decided to share with you all some of my favorites. These are sounds that bring a smile to my face, a flutter of nostalgia to my heart, or a sense of comfort to my spirit. Some are common, some are a bit more obscure, but all of them make me happy.

Do you and I have any of the same favorites? What are some of yours? Let me know in the comments! ^-^

β™‘ Gentle tapping. Particularly if I put a pair of headphones on and then tap on them. I can't fully explain this one, it just gives me a happy tingly feeling and I really like it. Similarly...

β™‘ Rain. This is especially nice while I'm falling asleep. The best is an entire storm though, including thunder.

β™‘ Tiny kitten meows. I think this is one that many of us can relate too because, well... it's adorable! Not only that but as a cat therian, I can't help but want to nurture them.

β™‘ Fireplace noises. Something about that soft crackling sound makes me feel so cozy! One day I'll live in a house with a fireplace. I'll make it happen somehow.

β™‘ Birds chirping. This has been a big one recently. It's spring here, and birds have finally begun to return. It's made me realize just how much I missed them during the winter. This also tends to cause sensory shifts for me!

β™‘ Scissors. But not when they just cut through things one snip at a time, I mean when they do the thing.

β™‘ Taking plastic off of a new dvd/video game case. Watching it glide off of there, the satisfying crinkly noises, just.... y e s.

β™‘ Dropping a stone into water. This one brings back a lot of memories for me. I live near lots of creeks and rivers, and I used to take the biggest rocks I could find and throw them in. Good times.

β™‘ Music boxes. They somehow convey so many feelings at once. They have a sort of calm, yet eerie tone most often, but can also be cheerful and innocent if used the right way. All of the possibilities are wonderful.

β™‘ Bubble wrap. Need I say more?

β™‘ Fireworks, especially in person. The louder the better. My favorite is when they shake the ground a little and you feel it in your chest. There's something so exciting about it.

β™‘ The Playstation 2 startup sound, AKA the anthem of my childhood. Apparently many people found this one a little creepy, but I think it's sort of relaxing. Not to mention it has that nostalgia factor. Sort of like...

β™‘ The original Nintendo DS startup sound. My very first handheld console and another staple of my early life. I also just really enjoy twinkly sounds in general.

β™‘ Speaking of twinkly sounds and nostalgia, this specific harp sound effect brings to mind images of early 2000's flash games. Looking back on them now, they were terrible, but at the time they were my favorite thing ever.

β™‘ Wind chimes. To this day, I can't walk past wind chimes without moving them around so they make the noise. People thought I would grow out of this. I didn't.

β™‘ Geese flying over my house. Not just because of the noise, but because of what it means. This always happens around the and of my least favorite season (winter) and the start of my favorite (fall).

β™‘ Crunchy leaves. They just make me smile for some reason.

β™‘ My dog's tail hitting the wall while she wags it. It's so cute seeing her happy.

β™‘ Comparably, the sound of her drinking water. She's very small, and something about her tiny lapping makes my heart get that warm fuzzy feeling.
